On the first day back, we had our Immersive Learning Day for our new Geography topic of Wild Waters. We completed many exciting activities including: mini life-raft building, a sandbag investigation, a news report on a flood, bridge building and some lovely river artwork. We had a great day and are really looking forward to our new topic for this term!
In Week 2 of our Spring Term, we had a visit from Yorkshire Water. They came in to complete a Lego building workshop, where we used Lego to build a drain unblocking robot and a coding app to move these robots on a map. In order to make sure we did this correctly, we had to work in teams to measure the distance they had to move, the direction they needed to go in and their start and finish positions on the map. It was a great day!!
Over this half term, we have been looking at landscape artists and how they create their work. Two artists we have been exploring are Kittie Jones and Saoirse Morgan, who both create their art outdoors, using natural materials to do so. This week, we tried to do the same. We used mud, grass, twigs, sticks, leaves and other items to create out artwork on the foggy school field.
