Welcome back! We are so excited to start a brand-new term in Year 3. The children have made a great start already, and we can’t wait to share all the exciting learning we have planned for the weeks ahead.
This term, our history topic is the Ancient Egyptians. We’ll be finding out what life was like thousands of years ago, exploring the pyramids, the River Nile, and the fascinating traditions and beliefs of this amazing civilisation.
In English, we’ll be linking our writing to our history topic. The children will be creating their own Egyptian-inspired stories as well as writing non-chronological reports to share interesting facts. Along the way, we’ll keep practising our spelling, punctuation, and grammar to help make our writing the best it can be.
In maths, we’ll be focusing on place value to build strong number skills. We’ll also be practising addition and subtraction strategies and starting to build confidence with our times tables. Regular practice at home will really help children feel secure with these skills.
Our science topic is all about rocks. We’ll be learning how different types of rocks are formed, investigating their properties, and even looking at fossils to discover what they can tell us about the past.
