In Years 1-6, English follows the three step learning approach of Connect, Collect, Create. Each classroom showcases the journey of writing through developed, purposeful working walls which support and guide the children with their learning.

The foundations of writing begin in Reception. Our curriculum ensures all children have opportunity to develop their writing, daily.

National Poetry Day - October 2021 National Poetry Day was a huge success in school. The children enjoyed spending time exploring a range of poetry. Mr Blackburn, Mrs Green, Mrs Blackburn and Miss Hyde shared their favourite poetry, alongside all members of teaching staff to immerse the children in poetry for a day. The children enjoyed reading a range of poems which were placed on the playground during break and lunchtimes and became confident sharing performance poetry with others.
