Welly Friday
Children In Need Day

We loved dressing up in Reception! Spiderman was a popular choice :-) We talked about what 'Children In Need' was and thought about all the things we should be grateful for such as our lovely school, our homes, our families, the food we eat and all the toys and resources we have. It is important to remember to share our wealth and time.

Remembrance Day

The children worked together to make a class poppy collage. We talked about why we wear poppies on Remembrance Day and thought about all the brave soldiers.

WOW! Reception have really settled in well to the school routines. We have been learning how to explore our wonderful areas of provision and have been busy making new friends. As the children continue to settle into school life and we find out what they enjoy, we will be focussing our learning on the theme of 'Ourselves'. We are also beginning some work on phonics and counting up to 20. Our 'dough disco' sessions are already a big hit as we exercise our fingers to improve fine muscle control in readiness for writing. We look forward to sharing all these experiences (and more) with you in the upcoming weeks :-)

Our next Stay & Play session is on Wednesday 25th November 9-9.30am
The children loved the first session so we hope to see many of you again :-)
Class Newsletter

Here you can find out what we are up to this term. Please check your child's book bag for weekly school newsletters and any other important letters.

Time to Explore!

We have begun having Maths and Literacy carpet sessions as well as Phonics and Dough Disco. During Exploration Time, we enjoy the freedom of being able to choose where we want to explore when we want and are supported and extended by our teachers and LSAs.

Yummy Yummy In My Tummy!

Reception are being really grown-up choosing their own dinners and sitting together to eat in the big dining hall. We encourage good manners and the friendly dinner staff have been impressed with how well the children have settled into the dinner time routine.

Family Fun Books

Here are a few examples of our fantastic homework this term. The school corridors are home to some new characters this week (2nd November - 6th November) as part of our Scarecrow Trail project. All the staff were super impressed with all the entries. They are marvellous and we can see that a lot of effort has gone into each scarecrow. Well done Reception! Which one is your favourite and why? Can you think of some names for our scarecrows?

Outdoor Learning

Reception enjoyed their first Friday session of outdoor learning on the 6th November. We acted out the story of 'Leaf Man', made big art, collected nature things in the garden and went on a minibeast hunt in the sensory garden. The children behaved fantastically and we can't wait to get back outside! Don't forget your wellies and waterproof coat each Friday!!
