We are learning about a village in South India called Chembakolli. We have learnt and performed a poem that is taught to the children from Chembakolli. It is called 'I was once a seed'. What do you think the poem is about?
As part of RTHS's enrichment day, a group of students came to our school to teach us Street Dancing. We had a great time!
During Health and safety week we took part in a 'Martial fitness' session with Mrs Pollard and Mrs Pankhurst.
The children enjoyed using clay to make candle holders and decorated them using traditional Indian patterns. They also researched life in an Indian village and created models of some of the traditional homes.
During Spring 2, Year 4 read the reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes during their Literacy sessions. Amongst lots of written work, the children have also recorded Radio news podcasts. They are reporting on the arrival of the Space Being (chapter 4).
Year 4 have a weekly Guitar lesson. Here is a small clip of the children singing and playing a One Direction classic!
The children created their own Aboriginal pieces using dot painting techniques. Mrs East (William's mum) came into school for an afternoon to put it all togther. The final pieces can be seen in school on our South staircase.
The children had a great tour of the grounds and found out lots of interesting facts. They even got the chance to hold the Challenge Cup!
